A local business has begun a new tradition in town, offering a place for young, local entertainers to showcase their talents.

Once or twice a month Andalusia Music Company offers a live band night.

“We try to do live bands once or twice a month, so that local kids who want to get their music out will have an opportunity,” owner Don Elmore said.

In addition to the live band night, they also offer an acoustic/open mic night every other Tuesday.

“Our acoustic night has been put on hold because of remodeling, but we hope to start again on July 13. We also have a tattoo shop coming in with us and we are waiting on everything to get finalized there.” Elmore said. “We give lessons up here and there is no place for anyone who wants to play, unless they go to a bar.”

Elmore said they wanted to provide something unique to Andalusia.

“We started doing this when we were located in the mall, and we continued it when we moved over here,” he said. “Those who come and play will get 10 percent off the merchandise.”

The entertainment is held from 7 to 9 p.m., and the business is located across from BB&T on Three Notch Street.

Anyone interested in playing a live show can contact Elmore or visit the Web site for more details at andalusiamusic.com.
