Residents who wish to celebrate the July 4th holiday in the county have three different options.

In Red Level:

“The Great Red Level Homecoming 2010” will be held Sat., July 3, downtown.

The day will kick off with a pancake and sausage breakfast at 7:30 a.m., at the new FEMA building on County Road 107 in the main business district.

The recently restored fire siren will kick off the day’s festivities in the Crystal Springs picnic park, where visitors will have the opportunity to browse selections at vendors’ booths beginning at 10 a.m.

For lunch, barbecue sandwiches will be served for $5 each.

“We will have local entertainment, a karaoke contest and a fireworks show will end the night at 9 p.m. on Saturday,” Red Level Mayor Mike Purnell said.

In Opp:

The annual city of Opp Fourth of July celebration will be held Sat., July 3, at Frank Jackson State Park.

Opp Mayor H.D. Edgar said the staff at the park has agreed to allow event-goers into the park for free after noon.

Hot dogs, watermelon and cold drinks will be available at 4 p.m. at no charge, and the fireworks show will begin at sundown.

Edgar said the fireworks will be visible from three points in the park – the handicapped portion off of Opine Road, the point off the island and the boat ramp.

The event is being paid for from the Rattlesnake Rodeo proceeds.

In Andalusia:

The city of Andalusia’s annual community-wide Fourth of July event will be held July 4.
