Brewton forced a deciding game against Opp Tuesday night with a 5-4 win in the 11-and-12-year-old All-Stars District 7 tournament at the Opp Sports Complex.

With the game tied 4-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, Brewton’s Jonathon Lucas led the inning off with a single and advanced to second on a passed ball.

Opp struck out the next two Brewton batters to set up the winning run on second base with two outs.

Then, Timothy McDonald drove in Lucas from second to give Brewton the 5-4, one-run win, and extend Brewton’s life in the tournament.

Brewton trailed two runs after the top of the second inning after Opp scored one run each in the first and second innings.

In the bottom of the second inning, Brewton’s Jared Cooper hit a solo homerun and then his team later tied the game on a passed ball and a Trippe Floyd single gave them a 3-2 lead after the second inning of play. The game would stay that way until the top of the fifth inning when Opp plated two runs to claim a 4-3 lead but Brewton tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the inning on a passed ball.

In the sixth inning, Opp left a runner on second base to keep the game tied at 4-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.
