The city of Andalusia’s summer tennis camps, sponsored by the Andalusia Tennis Association, started its second summer session Wednesday at the Lurleen B. Wallace Community College tennis courts.

Amidst the blistering heat, campers have been participating in activities aimed at improving their tennis game.

The summer camp’s director is Katrina Trotter, and the assistant director is Ginny Adams.

On June 29, the camp finished its first session at LBW, and the current session will run through July 22.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, the ATA holds the USTA quickstart program for younger children.

For children 6-and-under, the program meets from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.; for children 8-and-under, the program meets from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.; and for children 10-and-under, the program meets from 11 a.m. until noon.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the pre-junior and junior team tennis programs meet.

For campers ages 11-12, the camp meets from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.; and for campers ages 11-18, the camp meets from 10:30 a.m. until noon.

In addition, the Tiny Tot Tennis team for children 4-and-under, meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. until 9 a.m., or for additional private lessons.

The city of Andalusia’s department of leisure services is still holding registration for the camp, if campers want to participate.
