7 seek seats on Andy BOE

For the first time since the City of Andalusia moved to an elected school board, a full slate of candidates will stand for election. Qualifying for the Aug. 24 election ended yesterday.

In District 1, Joe Armstrong has qualified to challenge incumbent Joecephus (Joe) Nix.

In District 3, Bob Bush is challenging incumbent David Bryant, who currently serves as board chairman.

In District 5, there are three candidates seeking office, including Mark Dooley, David McCalman and Teresa Ward. Leann Riley, who currently holds the seat, is not seeking reelection.

The District 2 and District 4 offices will be up for election in 2012.
