County, Opp 15Us Satsuma bound

Two baseball teams from Covington County will vie for the 2010 Babe Ruth 15U state title in Satsuma from July 24-28.

Covington County and Opp will be among 10 teams to participate in the tournament, which will start in pool play and finish in a championship bracket.

Childersburg, Bay Minette, Tallassee, Covington County and Grand Bay make up Pool A; and Etowah, Opp, South Bibb, Brewton and Satsuma make up Pool B.

On Saturday, the tournament will kick off at 9 a.m., when Childersburg will play Bay Minette.

The next game will be between Etowah and Opp at 11:30 a.m.

Then, the 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. games will be between Tallassee and Covington County; and South Bibb and Brewton, respectively.

The final game of the day will be between Etowah and Satsuma at 7 p.m.

Games will resume on Sunday at 9 a.m. between Grand Bay and Childersburg.

On Monday and Tuesday, each team will play for the top seed in their respective pool.

When pool play is complete, the tournament will transition to a championship bracket format.

On Wed., July 28, the No. 1 seed in Pool A will play the No. 2 seed in Pool B at 9 a.m.; and the No. 1 seed in Pool B will play the No. 2 seed in Pool A at 11:30 a.m.

The championship game will be held at 2 p.m.
