Andalusia High School students, parents, teachers and community members are asked to support “Pride Day” on Sat., Aug. 7, 2011, from 6 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will paint and clean up the campus.

Recently, principal Dr. Daniel Shakespeare initiated a fundraising project to purchase 100 gallons of paint to give the outside awnings and other portions of the exterior a facelift.

“The support for this project has been amazing. Now, we need to roll up our sleeves and get to work,” said Shakespeare. “We want our campus to visually reflect a positive school climate.”

Volunteers should meet at the high school’s main parking lot. The following supplies will be needed: paint brushes, rollers, push mowers, weed eaters, pressure washers, ladders, hedge trimmers, rakes, brooms, gloves, Round-up and trailers to remove debris. Donations for paint and pine straw may be sent to Andalusia High School, 701 Third Street.
