JESSE “JAKE” TOLBERT BOATWRIGHT

Jessie “Jake” Tolbert Boatwright, 88, of Birmingham, formerly of Andalusia, died Sat., Aug. 14, 2010.

He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Enterprise during World War II until he retired in April 1960. After his retirement, he became an agent for many years with Liberty National Life Insurance Company and retired from New York Life Insurance in 1981.

He was a long time Mason of Lodge #434 and was a kind and loving man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nell Boatwright; two sons, Bud Boatwright and Doug Boatwright; two daughters, Vickie Boatwright and Suzette Jannett; eight grandchildren, Kyle Boatwright, Todd Boatwright, Richard Jannett, Wes Boatwright, Mary Jannett, Margaret Jannett, Maggie Smith and Amy Rodriguez, and six great-grandchildren, Gavin, Spence, Lexi, Caleb, Austin and Avery.

The family will have private services at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.

HORACE GLEN BULGER

Horace Glen Bulger, 85, passed away in a Bay Minette hospital Sat., Aug. 14, 2010.

A resident of Mobile, he was born in Opp, the son of the late Michael Jeffery Bulger and Louise Roberts Bulger. He was a bus driver for the City of Mobile for 28 years until his retirement. He loved to fish and gardening was his favorite. Growing all types of vegetables and fruit made his day enjoyable. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors are two sons, Horace Glen Bulger Jr. and wife Bunny of Land O Lakes, Fla., and Donald Bulger and wife Renee of Wilmer; two sisters, Dorothy Bulger Whitmire of Gainesville, Fla., and Hazel Bulger Pitts of Long View, Texas; five grandchildren, Michael Bulger, Chasity Vickery, Kevin Newton, Cody Bulger and Barry Bulger; and two great-grandchildren, McKinley Newton and Andrew Bulger.

Funeral services were held Sat., Aug. 21, at Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Sharpe officiating and interment following at Red Oak Cemetery.
