The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs fell in their season home opener to Enterprise 0-3 Thursday night.

Andalusia lost the best 3-out-of-5 match 17-25, 11-25, 17-25.

Enterprise gained early momentum in the first game, and never backed down leading as much as 10 points.

AHS coach Angie Grimes said her team played “well” Thursday night given the loss.

“I wasn’t upset about anything,” Grimes said. “I thought they played together as a team well. They stayed up for the most part.

“We had a lot of big plays,” she said. “We beat ourselves up, and I think a lot of that was serving errors. In the second game, I know we had serving errors, and you can’t do that. You cannot have serving errors in games like that.”

Throughout the rest of the match, the Lady Bulldogs couldn’t match up against Enterprise’s strength.

For Andalusia, Shi’Amber Townsend had 15 passes and 13 spikes; Ellie Pollock had 21 passes; and A.C. Riley had eight service points.

The Lady Bulldogs will hit the road this morning to play in a tournament in Kinston. Their first match is at 8:30 a.m., against Kinston.

Grimes said the first game will help her team going into today’s tournament.

“I’m so glad we went ahead and had a game before the tournament, because last year we went down there and we hadn’t played,” Grimes said. “We feel confident after playing Enterprise. It was a good game to get us ready, and get us back in the gym and see what kind of adjustments we need to make.”
