In a best 2-out-of-3 varsity volleyball match on the road in Opp Tuesday, the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs bested the Lady Bobcats, winning 2-0.

Andalusia (3-4, 1-0 in Class 4A, Area 3) beat Opp in varsity action 25-17, 25-11; and 25-17, 27-25 in junior varsity action.

“Our passing was better, and we still weren’t where we need to be on that,” AHS coach Angie Grimes said. “The (junior varsity) did real good, and they hustled a lot.”

Andalusia’s Shi’Amber Townsend led with eight kills and seven digs; Allison Daniels contributed with seven kills; A.C. Riley led in assists with 22, had four aces and 10 service points; and Ellie Pollock had four aces. In addition, Erica Staley had five kills for Andalusia.

“We hustled a lot more in the first game, against Andalusia, but in the second game, we kind of got behind,” Opp coach Christie Spurlin said. “They improved hustling wise, and it was a pretty good match.”
