The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles split in an area volleyball tri-match Tuesday against Kinston and Florala at PHS.

Pleasant Home fell in the opening match to Kinston 11-25, 22-25, 13-25; and beat Florala 25-5, 25-7, 25-9.

“In the Kinston match, in all honesty, I thought we played pretty well,” PHS coach Jerry Davis said. “We just don’t hit as well as they do. They score a lot of points on their hits.”

Davis said the girls serve received well, but didn’t pass the ball well.

In the second game against Kinston, Davis said the girls held the lead throughout the game, but couldn’t finish with a win.

“That’s just a tribute to them having more experience and more confidence at this point,” he said.

Against Florala, Davis said he was impressed with how the Lady Wildcats played with it being their third match of the season.

“Being the second or third time out, they did a nice job,” he said. “In fact, I was impressed with them. People don’t understand, this is a difficult game. I keep saying playing at church or on the beach is not the same game.”

The Lady Eagles improved to 4-2, and 1-1 in Class 1A, Area 2.

Pleasant Home will host Opp today at 4 p.m., starting with the junior high team; and Florala will hit the road to play Rocky Bayou at 5.
