Nationally known writer and speaker Kirk Walden will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Sav-A-Life Banquet.

“The banquet is the ministry’s biggest fundraiser,” Jan White, spokesperson, said. “This special event gives us an opportunity to let people know what’s going on in our ministry and how they can get involved and support our outreach to the community.”

Guest speaker Walden has led a pregnancy care ministry for nine years and has first hand knowledge, White said.

Walden is a graduate of Auburn University and worked as the executive director for Sav-A-Life in Auburn.

White said the organization touches many lives through its pregnancy resource center with free counseling, baby and maternity clothing and parenting classes.

White said that while the number of abortions is down, there are still too many.

“One of the things we have found interesting is that even though abortions are lower, that it’s 9/11 for aborted babies – 3,000 people died then and 3,000 babies die each day.

The banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Mon., Sept. 27, at the Kiwanis Building.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and are available at Tabby D’s Christian Book & Gift, Sav-A-Life office, Larry’s Prescriptions in Opp and at Pharma-Care in Florala.
