Serving errors cost Andalusia Tuesday

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs suffered a 3-1 road loss to Kinston Tuesday in varsity volleyball action.

Andalusia last played Kinston Saturday at its annual tournament, where they fell in the semifinals 2-1.

Andalusia won the first game 25-23, but fell 22-25, 21-25, 16-25 in the last three games.

AHS coach Angie Grimes said the girls had a lot of “serving errors, which never have been a problem.”

“We couldn’t serve (Tuesday night),” AHS coach Angie Grimes said. “We missed too many.”

In one game, Andalusia had eight serving errors.

“We outplayed them on attacks and the passing looked good,” Grimes said. Andalusia’s A.C. Riley led in assists with 73 and had 15 service points; Ellie Pollock contributed with 33 digs and 13 service points; Megan Pugh had three aces; Shi’Amber Townsend had two aces, eight tips, 20 kills and six blocks; Allison Daniels had nine tips and 12 blocks; and Erica Staley had seven blocks.

The Lady Bulldogs will travel to play Providence Christian today in regular season action. The match starts at 3:30 p.m. with the junior high team.
