A wanted man made a mad dash Thursday to escape capture but was unsuccessful in his quest to prolong his freedom, thanks to a security guard at the An-dalusia Social Security Office.

Char-les Edward Jordan, 18, was wanted by law enforcement on an outstanding probation revocation warrant from the District Court, said Chief Deputy David Anderson.

“Mr. Jordan had led deputies on a lengthy foot chase off the southern bypass,” Anderson said. “He was captured at approximately 4:15 p.m. when a security officer at the Social Security Office noticed a white male running across a vacant lot next to the area. The officer, who also happened to be a reserve deputy, notified other officers in the area who apprehended him.”

Anderson said Jordan will be facing additional charges, but for now, is being held in the Covington County Jail without bond.
