WILLIAM ALBAUGH WARD

William Albaugh Ward, 76, of Andalusia, passed away on Tues., Sept. 14, 2010, at his home.

He was born in Baltimore, Md., on May 15, 1934. He graduated from Frederick High School in Frederick, Md., in 1953 and attended Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pa.; graduated from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pa., in 1957, with a degree in physical education and from Michigan State University in 1966 with a master’s degree in police administration and public safety. He retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of colonel after 30 years of service.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Sat., Sept. 18, from the First United Methodist Church in Andalusia with the Rev. Tim Trent officiating. The family will receive friends at the fellowship hall one hour prior to the service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon A. Ward; and his parents, Frederick John Ward and Susan Elizabeth Albaugh Ward.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Woodham Ward of Andalusia; his children, Vicki W. Blanchard of August, Ga., Valerie L. Ward of Gulfport, Fla., Velanie W. (Bill) Paryezek of Gulfport, Fla., Charles “Chike” F. (Marianne) Ward of Newnan, Ga., Lisa C. (John) Worthington of Ft. Worth, Texas, James E. (Carol) Czap of Cumming, Ga.; six grandchildren, Suzi Laine Ward, William Paul Ward, William Raymond Paryzck, Sarah Woodham Worthington, Laura Nichols Worthington and Everett James Czap; brother, Frederick I. (Janet) Ward of Umatilla, Fl.; and sister, Patricia W. (John) Nash of Keymar, Md.

BETTY JOYCE HENLEY BROOKSHIRE

Betty Joyce Henley Brookshire, 76, of Wing, died Wed., Sept. 15, 2010, at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., today, Fri., Sept. 17, at the Bradley Assembly of God in Wing, with the Rev. John Maust and the Rev. Anthony Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Jane and Joey Barrow of Wing; her sons and daughters-in-law, R. J. and Carol Brookshire, Joey and Cindy Brookshire and Jason Brookshire, all of Wing; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters, Lenis Hollis of Brewton and Marie Wilkerson of Wing; and sister-in-law, Betty Henley of Niceville, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Brookshire; parents, Julian Benton Henley and Betty Ruth Henley; and brother, J.B. Henley.

Pallbearers will be Judge Ashley McKathan, David Kirkland, John Holloway, John Knox, Billy Henley and Donald Gene Smith.
