Emergency personnel have been busy the last two days responding to fires – specifically grass fires.
During the last two days, area fire departments have responded to five grass fires.
In Florala, a Wednesday house fire completely destroyed a home.
Florala police chief Sonny Bedsole said the home of Tim Adams, located on Alabama Hwy. 54, just past County Road 84, was a complete loss.
“From reports, it appears Mr. Adams came home and went to cook some supper, but laid down on the couch and fell asleep,” Bedsole said. “Luckily, he was able to get out, but the home is gone.”
Units from the Florala Fire Department responded to the blaze, he said.
Drought conditions continue, and area residents are urged to use extreme caution.
