Today, we have people who reside in this country, but their citizenship is another. Others have dual citizenship, meaning they are citizens of the United States and also of some other country.

A person with dual citizenship will always favor one country over the other. As born again Christians, who are U.S. citizens, we also have dual citizenship. Philippians 3:18-20 says, “For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose God is their appetite, and whose glory is their shame, who mind earthly things.” But, “…our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall change our lowly body that it may be fashioned like His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able to subdue all things unto Himself.”

While I love this country above all other countries on Earth, my supreme allegiance is to my King, the Lord Jesus Christ. I value my citizenship in His kingdom far more than I value my U.S. citizenship. When you consider the description of those whoa re citizens of this Earth only, as contrasted to those who are citizens of heaven who look forward to a new body, free from sin and pain, in the quote from Philippians, you should also desire to become a citizen of Heaven.

One day, the time known only to God, my King, the Lord Jesus Christ, will rule and reign over the world. In the meantime, when earthly officials decree that which is contrary to the dictates of God’s world, it is my duty to obey the commands of my King as His loyal subject.

My citizenship is in heaven by the grace of God. I do not boast, but at the same time, I am proud of my citizenship in Heaven. Where is your citizenship? Who is your king? Is your king Jesus, or is your king Satan?

Do you want to know how you can become a citizen of Heaven? There is only one way – through the blood of the Lord, Jesus Christ. You see, His blood was the price He paid to redeem sinners from Satan’s kingdom and to deliver us from the powerful chains of sin. He is the way, the truth and the life. Neither is there any other name by which you may be saved.

It is my prayer that you will bow to the lordship of this God-King and find mercy from His nail-pierced hands. The alternative is the very unpleasant bowing before Him as Lord in judgment. But, be assured that everyone without exception will bow before Him and acknowledge that He is Lord. The most powerful and ruthless despot will be included. In fact, God says that He laughs at their efforts to keep Him from His course of action.

Don’t delay. Go to God while He still offers you grace and not your just due. Join me as a fellow citizen of the greatest of all countries. You will have all of Heaven’s resources as your aid against your enemies.
