As part of this week’s homecoming festivities, Charles G. Brooks Sr. and Dr. Ben Roberts were honored as recipients of the 2010 Andalusia High School Outstanding Graduate Award.
The award is presented annually to AHS graduates whose personal life, professional accomplishments and community service exemplify the ideals of the school
Brooks, a member of the Class of ’39, led a distinguished career as an editorial cartoonist, garnering national awards. Roberts, a member of the Class of 1991, has dedicated his life to work as an ophthalmologist and missionary at Tenwek Hospital in Kenya, where he and his family have lived since 2006.
They are remarkable examples of people who have used the strong educational foundation earned here to the utmost. We join many other voices in saying, “You make us proud.”
