Lady Bulldogs sweep Ashford on senior night

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs swept Ashford 3-0 Tuesday at senior recognition night.

Andalusia won the match 25-16, 25-22, 25-15.

Before the varsity match began, Andalusia seniors A.C. Riley, Penny “Lu” White, Ellie Pollock, Jasmine Peoples and Megan Pugh were recognized for their service and contributions to the team.

From the start, the Lady Bulldogs took command of the match, leading 12-7 and 21-14 at two different during the first game.

In game two, Ashford got off to a good start in leading 4-0 at one point. Andalusia regrouped, and completed a 5-0 run to force an Ashford timeout.

Andalusia pulled away late in the game, and Pugh finished it out with a kill for the 25th point.

Game three was a different tune for the Lady Bulldogs.

Andalusia led 10-0 before Ashford earned a point in the final game of the night.

This time, it was Erica Staley who came up with the kill for the Lady Bulldogs to get the win.

Riley led Andalusia in assists with 40, and contributed seven aces; Pollock had 23 digs; Pugh had three kills and two blocks; Staley had four kills; and Alison Daniels had five tips and three blocks.

The Lady Bulldogs’ will host the Class 4A, Area 3 tournament next Tuesday.
