There will soon be a second Hibbett Sporting Goods opening in Andalusia.

Store officials confirmed Thursday the company will open its new store sometime during the first week of November.

“We’re thrilled to be opening a new store in Andalusia,” said Jeff Rosenthal, president and CEO of Hibbett Sports. “People in Andalusia take their sports seriously, and we plan to give them the sporting goods products and know-how they’ve been looking for.”

The new store will be located in Sanford Station next to Burke’s Outlet. It will employ approximately eight full and part-time “team members.”

The store’s Westgate Plaza location will not close.

Store officials said the chain is committed to serving small markets, and “keeping costs low and keeping customers happy has proven to be a successful goal” for the store.

According to Rosenthal, from Hibbett Sports’ beginning in 1945, the focus has been on serving the local community.

“No matter how many stores we open, we don’t lose sight of the fact that every town we serve is a hometown,” he said.
