Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Blocker of Prattville announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Dana Blocker, to John A. Merren, son of Dolores McAlphine and the late George E. Merren of Mobile.

The bride-elect is the maternal granddaughter of the late Grace and Albert Sharpe of Andalusia. She is the paternal granddaughter of Edward and Mary Blocker of Andalusia the late Vernell Parish Blocker of Opp.

She is a 1996 graduate of Autauga Academy and a graduate of the University of West Alabama where she earned degrees in early childhood education and elementary education. She is currently employed with Mobile Community Action Inc., Head Start.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Antonette and Nathan Davis of Mobile and the late Irene and George McAlphine of Foley.

He is a 1986 graduate of B.C. Rain High School. He is currently employed with Cintas Inc.

The wedding is set for Oct. 23, 2010. Invitations will be sent.
