Lady Bulldogs fall to Enterprise

­­­Despite falling 3-0 on the road to Enterprise Thursday night, Andalusia volleyball coach Angie Grimes said her team played well in “transition.”

At Friday’s practice, Grimes said the focus is on tip coverage in preparation for the Class 4A, Area 3 tournament next Tuesday.

The Lady Wildcats won the match Thursday night 25-18, 25-14, 25-11.

Andalusia’s A.C. Riley led in assists with 40 and had seven aces; Ellie Pollock had 23 digs; Megan Pugh had three kills; Alison Daniels had three blocks; Shi’Amber Townsend contributed with 10 service points and 16 attacks; and Erica Staley had four kills.

The area tournament starts at 4 p.m. Tuesday at AHS in the volleyball gym. Andalusia will play No. 4 seed Headland on Court 1, and Straughn will play Ashford on Court 2 at the same time.

After the first round of play, the tournament will transition to a single-elimination format. The top two teams will advance to the South Region Tournament on Oct. 16. The location has yet to be determined.
