PowerSouth unveiled its new, redesigned Web site last Tuesday – www.powersouth.com, with a more vivid look, improved navigation and additional information about the company and its distribution members.

The new site is designed to show a hands-on picture of what PowerSouth is and what it stands for in the communities it serves.

“We did ample research on what other generation and transmission (G&T) cooperatives are doing online, and we designed PowerSouth.com to incorporate the latest technology for delivering information,” said Mark Ingram, PowerSouth Communications Manager.

“We used comments and feedback from internal and external users to make the website more user-friendly and organized based on the information most people want to know about PowerSouth.”

The new Web site offers significantly improved navigation and functionality.

In addition, it adds information about PowerSouth’s generation and transmission processes, plant sites, economic and community programs and much more.

“The new site offers smart features, more pictures, animation and video that explains our role as a G&T, while making it easier for visitors to find the information they are seeking,” Ingram said.

The launching of new website falls on the heels of the conversion of PowerSouth’s quarterly Powerlines magazine to a shorter monthly newsletter.

The newsletter will begin distribution via e-mail this month, along with a printed version, and it is also available on the PowerSouth Web site.

“The communications industry is changing quickly, and our staff recognized an opportunity to ramp up our online presence to take advantage of emerging communication media,” said Ingram.

“We are trying to stay ahead of the curve to provide timely, accurate and engaging content for our publics.”

PowerSouth first launched its online presence the mid-1990s.

This is the second major redesign of the Web site in the last decade.
