An Andalusia teen was critically injured after being trapped underneath his pickup truck Wednesday.

Shortly after 10 a.m., Charles Alex Short Jr., 19, was traveling on Mill Creek Road, just off U.S. Hwy. 84, when his Ford F-150 pickup truck left the roadway and overturned.

“It appears that the truck was coming down the hill and ran off the road,” said Alabama State Trooper Morgan. “He over-corrected, crossed back over the road and the vehicle overturned.”

Short was trapped for approximately 20 minutes before being extricated from beneath the wreckage. He was life flighted from the scene to the scene to a Montgomery hospital, and later transferred to Birmingham

Morgan said speed did not appear to be a factor in the accident; however, Short was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Reports from the scene stated Short suffered a broken pelvis, broken ankle and contusion to the head.
