Red Level tasers Wildcats, 47-15

Red Level’s Tevin James rushed 32 yards on four carries and scored two touchdowns to help lift his team to a 47-15 over county rival Florala Friday night.

Following a three-and-out by both teams, Red Level got on board first with a 49-yard interception return for a touchdown by James Feagin. The two-point conversion was good, and the Tigers took an early 8-0 lead at the 7:21 mark of the first quarter.

On the Wildcats’ next offensive series, the RLS defense scored once again when O.J. McGee intercepted a pass and took it 43 yards for the score. The PAT was good, and Red Level was up 15-0.

Then, Red Level’s leading rusher Raheem Bullock then took the ball 57 yards for a touchdown, and the Tigers took a 22-0 lead with 3:35 left in the first quarter.

The Tigers continued to score in the first half, when James scored his first touchdown of the night from one yard out.

Florala managed to get on the board on its next offensive series on a 20-yard touchdown pass at the 3:30 mark. The PAT was good, and Red Level held a 28-7 lead.

Next week, the Tigers (5-5) will hit the road and play Southern Choctaw in the first round of the Class 2A state playoffs. This will be Red Level’s first appearance in the playoffs since 2006 (second round).

To cap off the first half, Red Level scored again on a 67-yard touchdown run by Preston Ryce. The PAT was no good, and the Tigers led 34-7 at the half.

Red Level scored on its first offensive possession of the second half, when James went 38 yards for the touchdown.

The Tigers then scored again when Kevin Harris rushed 22 yards at the 4:50 mark of the third quarter.

Florala’s final touchdown came at the 6:05 mark of the fourth quarter on a six-yard run. The two point conversion was good.

Leading rushers for Red Level were Bullock with 10 carries for 116 yards, and Ryce had five carries for 94 yards and a score.

Florala closed the 2010 season 1-9.
