A wanted sex offender from Connecticut was found in Covington County Sunday.

The U.S. Marshals Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force, with the assistance of the sheriff’s office, located George Patrick Perkert, 42, at a residence on Cedar Lane in Andalusia.

Perkert was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and violation of probat-ion. He was convicted in New York in 2000 for first-degree sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl.

He is currently being held in the county jail, awaiting extradition to Connecticut.
