Homecoming events on tap for Thursday, Friday

After months of careful planning and days of hard work, “Absolutely Andalusia” Homecoming 2010 is here.

On tap for today at:

• 9 a.m. – “All American Homecoming Parade,” Veterans Day ceremony and dedication of the city’s historic marker in front of city hall

• 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. – Historic district walking tour

• 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. – “Absolutely Andalusia: Then and Now – a Gallery of Art”

• Noon until 5 p.m. – “Visions of Thread and Fabric” Quilt Show

• 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. – Visit the welcome center at First Methodist Church

• 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. – Dream Park renovation reveal

• 7 p.m. – Andalusia in Revue at the LBW Dixon Center.

On Friday:

• 10 am. until 5 p.m. – “Visions of Thread and Fabric” Quilt Show

• 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. – Dedication of Ben Crum Foshee Fire House at South Alabama Regional Airport

• 1 p.m. – Veterans’ Day program at AMS. Because parking is limited at AMS, a shuttle service is also being provided with pick-ups at 12:35 p.m. at the following locations:

• city hall;

• Johnson Park;

• First Baptist Church, Andalusia;

• First Baptist Church, Whatley Street;

• Cedar Grove Church of Christ;

• Coleman Center;

• Southside Baptist Church; and

• Harmony Baptist Church (Please call 222-8117 to schedule a pick-up at this location.)

• 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. – Visit the welcome center at First Baptist Church

• 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. – Street dance

• All day events – Walking tours of historic venues and sidewalk tour.
