The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs couldn’t put together enough lay ups at the end of the game Thursday night in their 42-41 loss to the Enterprise Lady Wildcats.

“We had a good chance to win it, but we just didn’t,” AHS coach Bennie Shellhouse said. “We missed six lay ups in the fourth period.

“We got everything we wanted in the end, but we just couldn’t get away with the lay ups,” he said.

Andalusia’s girls took a 12-8 lead after the first period, and led 20-19 at half time.

At the end of the third period, Enterprise took its first lead of the night on a lay up by Emily Davis. Davis led in scoring for the Lady Wildcats with 14 points.

“They’re big and athletic,” Shellhouse said. “We fought hard in the third.”

With Andalusia ahead 41-40, Enterprise scored a late lay up to take the lead for the win in the final period of the contest.

Shellhouse said the game will help in his team’s “preparation” for Opelika at the Enterprise Classic tournament this weekend.

“It was a good preparation game for us in playing Opelika,” Shellhouse said. “Opelika is big too.”

Andalusia’s Alexis Horton and Shi’Amber Townsend led in scoring for the Lady Bulldogs. Horton had 19 points and Townsend chipped in 15.

Mary Robinson had 13 for Enteprise.

The Lady Bulldogs will play Opelika at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Enterprise tournament.
