Christmas angels up for adoption
There are more than 600 “angels” awaiting homes at more than 20 locations throughout Andalusia.
“You can help make a child’s Christmas merry and bright,” said Jan White of Andalusia’s Community Christmas. “A child whose needy family not be able to afford presents under the tree this year.”
Andalusia Community Christmas is a non-profit annual program that is funded by local residents and civic organization that assists families in financial crisis who live in the Andalusia, Straughn, Red Level and Please Home school districts. Florala and Opp have their own respective programs.
Through the community’s help, Community Christmas organizers are able to provide toys and clothing for children between the ages of 2 and 13.
White said it is suggested that $50 be spent on each adopted angel, and packages along with the angel card are to be dropped off Fri., Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., Sat., Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. until noon, and Sun., Dec. 5, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Kiwanis Community Center on the south bypass.
Gifts will be distributed at the annual Andalusia Community Christmas party on Fri., Dec. 17, at the Kiwanis building at 6:30 p.m.
For those who would like to make a donation rather than purchase gifts, checks can be mailed to Andalusia Community Christmas Inc., P.O. Box 1525, Andalusia, AL 36420.
