One person is dead following an afternoon accident near Red Level Friday.

The one-vehicle accident occurred on Morgan Road at approximately 2:47 p.m.

Initial reports indicated the vehicle, a Ford pick-up truck, left the roadway and overturned. The vehicle’s passenger was ejected.

State Troopers Public Information Officer Eubanks said that the identity of the fatality victim was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver, who was also not identified, did not appear to be injured.

State Troopers at the scene said speeding was believed to have caused the pick-up to flip; however, Eubanks said he could not comment on whether alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.

In addition to the State Troopers, Advanced EMS, Andalusia Rescue and the Covington County Sheriff’s Department responded to the accident.

The crash remains under investigation, and The Star-News will report more details as they become available.
