An Andalusia residence received extensive damage after a fire broke out in the home on Monday.

Capt. Tim Grimes of the Andalusia Fire Department said firefighters were dispatched to 105 Coy Street in reference to a possible structure fire.

“Heavy smoke and fire was visible upon arrival,” he said. “There was no one in the home.”

“The structure is still standing; however it did receive extensive heat and smoke damage,” he said.

Grimes said it took about 15 minutes for the four units to put the fire out.

Grimes said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. No other details were available when the Star-News went to press.
