Opp’s Soyia Folmar scored 18 points to help lead the Lady Bobcats to a 50-30 road victory over Red Level on Thursday night.

The game started out on the slow end, but the Lady Bobcats countered going on a 7-0 run late in the first period to lead 18-5.

“I was real pleased with our intensity,” Opp girls coach Allison Gregory said. “As far as our execution goes, I wasn’t real pleased with that. I think our intensity is wonderful.”

In the second period, Opp utilized its perimeter and inside attack to take a 32-14 lead at half time.

Opp’s Ladestiny Davis also led the Lady Bobcats with 13 points. Savannah Gerber had nine points and Tori Norris chipped in six.

The Lady Bobcats ran away with a 40-15 lead early in the third period on a three-pointer by Gerber.

At the end to the third period, Opp (4-1) held a 43-23 lead.

The starters sat out for most of the fourth period, and Red Level took advantage closing Opp’s lead to 43-29 with less than four minutes remaining in the contest.

Red Level’s Kiaira Coleman led the Lady Tigers (1-4) with 13 points. Diorah Smith added eight points, and Brandi Hendrix had five points.

Despite the loss, RLS girls coach Delores Douglas saw some bright spots.

“I saw some positive things from the game,” Douglas said. “It was unforced turn overs we’ve got to get corrected. We’ve got to get better with our handling on the ball.”

The Lady Bobcats will play host to the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs tonight.

Red Level travels to play Brantley.
