Hot, holiday meals offered to public

Those needing a home-cooked meal during the Christmas holidays should look no further than two local Christian organizations.
Beyond Measure Ministry, a non-profit organization unaffiliated with any church, will provide meals for about 150 people on Christ-mas Eve, said Amber Holley of the outreach group.
“We have been doing this for about three years,” she said. “We just pray about it and seek people out. We also have people in the community call us.”
The Crow’s Nest will prepare the food, and members of the ministry will make deliveries; however, deliveries must be scheduled by Wed., Dec. 22, at 5 p.m.
“We’re just a group of Christians trying to help,” Holley said.
Those who need a meal delivered should call 343-4770 or send an e-mail to beyondmeasureministries@yahoo.com.
Additionally, ACORN, or “Assorted Christians and other Religious Nuts” will host a free Christmas lunch for Andalusia residents on Christmas Day from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the parish hall of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church on East Three Notch Street.
Diners have the options of eating at St. Mary’s, ordering meals “to go” from the church or getting their meals delivered.
“We just ask that if they would like it delivered that they call us the day before,” said organizer Jan Morris. “If they haven’t called they are welcome to come by.”

Morris said the volunteer group is making plans to serve more than 200 meals that day.
