Stacy to headline chamber banquet

Former Crimson Tide running back Siran Stacy will be the keynote speaker for the 88th annual Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet, set for 7 p.m. on Tues., Jan. 18, in the Kiwanis Community Building.

Stacy also played in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles (1992), in the Canadian Football League as a running back for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and as an NFL Europe running back for the Scottish Claymores (1995-97, 2000).

After his professional football career, he worked with Hometown Lenders, Countrywide Home Mortgage, Wells Fargo and Costal Community Bank.

On Nov. 19, 2007, Stacy was involved in an auto accident in which six people were killed. Bronson Stacy, 10, and Ellie Stacy, 2, and their mother, Ellen Stacy, were killed in the wreck. Also, two of his children by another marriage, Laquisa Stacy, 18, and Sydney Stacy, 9, were killed. Stacy and one daughter, Shelly, 4, survived the wreck.

Siran shares with groups around the country his message of grace and survival during difficult times.

The Distinguished Service Award, President’s Award, Teachers of the Year, Student of the Year and other prominent community awards will also be presented.

Tickets may be purchased at the Chamber office. The cost will be $30 for Chamber members and $35 for non-Chamber members and $20 for students. Seating will not be reserved; however, sponsorships are available. Sponsorship levels, all of which include recognition at the banquet and in the Chamber publications, are as follows:

• Gold Sponsor: $500, includes reserved premier seating for 12.

• Silver Sponsor: $350, includes reserved premier seating for 8.

• Bronze Sponsor: $200, includes reserved preferred seating for 4.
