Opportunity House got a much-needed boost in revenue Thursday in the form of a $10,900 grant.
Gov. Bob Riley has awarded the grant to help victims of domestic violence in Conecuh, Covington and Monroe counties.
The grant will help women’s domestic violence shelter located in Opp continue assisting victims through a 24-hour crisis line, safe shelter, court advocacy and related services.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available to the state by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Riley notified Howard West, the organization’s board president, that the grant had been approved.
Along with grants, the organization relies on private donations to ensure that services continue to be offered to victims free of charge.
