Conecuh Woods, a company that has been interested in building a landfill near Repton, is on the agenda for Monday morning’s Conecuh County Commission meeting.
The company has reportedly filed with the county a new application to build the landfill.
County officials could not be reached for comment, but the commission rejected a previous application for a landfill.
Conecuh Woods has maintained a presence in the county and holds options on property there.
The proposed landfill would be about 5,000 acres.
Conecuh Woods officials also could not be reached for comment.
Residents in Conecuh County have been fighting the landfill proposal since 2006, and a grassroots group called Citizens for a Clean Southwest Alabama was formed in January 2007.
Later that year, Escambia County commissioners passed a resolution stating they were against the landfill.
The commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Conecuh County Courthouse.
