Attention moms – do a little spring-cleaning by pulling out those gently used children’s items around the house. The benefits are two-fold – you get a clean house and you could earn a little extra money by selling them at the upcoming Little Lambs consignment sale.

Organizer Shirley Tew said Monday the event will be held this year on Sat., March 5, from 7 a.m. until noon at Oakwood Lodge, behind Piggly Wiggly.

This annual event is sponsored by the Little Lambs Council, a group of Christian women dedicated to helping local mothers sell their gently-used clothing, buy gently-used clothing for their own children and raise money for a local charity helping women and children in the community.

“This is going to be our spring sale, and we’re looking for used clothing, toys, books, shoes and furniture,” Tew said.

She said to participate in this consignment sale, sellers must pay a $7 registration fee and commit to work a three-hour shift before, during or after the sale. Sellers are not required to be present during the sale, she said.

“And to thank you for participating, sellers will have the opportunity to shop on the Friday evening before the sale opens to the public on Saturday,” she said.

“The more sellers we have, the bigger the assortment of items we have to offer,” Tew said. “Furniture items, such as cribs and high chairs, strollers and car seats, anything of that nature is greatly needed. Toys, too.”

Sellers must have at least 25 items. Sales are split with 75 percent going to the seller and 25 percent to the LLC, which is donating this year’s proceeds to Crossover Ministries, a faith-based Christian recovery ministry that treats all types of addictions.

“This is a great opportunity for parents who are looking to outfit children in nice clothes at very reasonable prices,” Tew said. “So, it works on two fronts. It helps the families in our area, and it benefits a great cause.”

Deadline for consigners is Feb. 25 and packets are available for download at www.littlelambssale.com or locally at Blackston Quality Eye Care and at the front office of Andalusia’s First Baptist Church.
