According to the indictment, the couple allegedly “failed to list their income from Jan. 1, 2004, to May 25, 2010, in preparation of a claim or application for medical benefits from the state of Alabama Medicaid Agency.”

Medicaid is the state/federal program that pays for medical and long-term care services for low-income pregnant women, children, certain people on Medicare, individuals with disabilities and nursing home residents. Individuals must meet certain income and other requirements to qualify for benefits.
