To promote Read Across America week, the Andalusia Public Library is urging all residents, young and old, to pick up a book.

Caryl Lee Jackson, children’s librarian at the APL, addressed students at Andalusia Elementary School about the wonders found at the local library.

“Over the past several years, millions of children and adults celebrate Dr. Seuss and the joy of reading on March 2,” Lee said. “In our own community, I hope that every child in every home, library or school will be reading with a caring adult. We have anything and everything on every subject matter under the sun at the library.

“We’d like to see everyone find a book to share,” she said.

To help youngsters do just that, the APL will celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday on Fri., March 4, at 10:30 a.m. during its weekly storytime session.
