Brewton Police arrested an Andalusia man while investigating illegal drug activity in the Hamilton Street area of Brewton.
Nikita Wilson, 48, of 20232 Brooklyn Rd., Anda-lusia, was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and attempting to elude law enforcement officers. He was booked into the Escambia County Detention Center on the charges.
Sgt. Bryan Davis with the Brewton Police Department’s Narcotics Division said the arrest came when agents approached Wilson, and he ran from the officers.
“Upon officers arriving in the area, they made contact with Wilson,” Davis said. “As officers attempted to approach him, he attempted to elude the officers by running through a house and jumping over fences.”
Davis said the officers pursued Wilson in the area crossing Sowell Road and down Mason Street toward the Brewton Police Department.
“Wilson was apprehended and taken into custody by Officer William Mosley and Sgt. Andrew Casey at the Brewton Civic Center,” he said.
As officers searched Wilson following his capture, they discovered approximately one ounce of marijuana in his possession, Davis said.
He was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center where he was booked on the charges in the arrest.
