VIRGA ELIZABETH MASON BROOKS

Virga Elizabeth Mason Brooks, 94, of Andalusia, died Mon., April 11, 2011, in the Andalusia Manor nursing facility.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Fri., April 1, at the Liberty Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Boles officiating, and burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight at Foreman Funeral Home and at the church 30 minutes prior to services.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Larry Daniel and Chrystal Brooks of Pensacola, Fla., and Rondle Brooks of Andalusia; her grandchildren, Becky and Terry Clark, Mark and Kelley Brooks of Pensacola, Fla., Kevin and Christi Brooks of St. Mary’s, Ga., Sonya and Cal Sanders of Andalusia, and Randy and Debra Brooks of Dozier; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas Brooks, and her son, Jerome Brooks.

Pallbearers will be Cal Sanders, Randy Brooks, Josh Moseley, David Moseley, Dakota Ward and Rondle Brooks.

WAYMAN AUGHTMAN SR.

Wayman Aughtman Sr., 70, of Eight Mile, Ala., formerly of Andalusia, died Tues., April 12, 2011, in Pensacola, Fla.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Sat., April 16, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Canant officiating, and burial following in Adams Cemetery in the Antioch community.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Foreman Funeral Home.

Survivors include his son, Duane Barnes of Texas, Wayman Aughtman, Jr., of Mobile, Truman Aughtman of Wayesboro, Miss., and Lonnie Aughtman of Mobile; his daughters, Bonnie Barnes of Pace, Fla., Cindy Rowe of Citronelle and Carmen Eagle of Niceville, Fla.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brothers, Bobby Aughtman and Truman Aughtman, both of Mobile, Royce Aughtman of Andalusia and Larry Aughtman of Virginia; and two sisters, Joanne Grissett of Andalusia and Linda Chinawik of Wyoming.

BILLY LANGFORD PRITCHETT

Billy Langford Pritchett, 76, of Lucedale, Miss., passed on suddenly on April 11, 2011.

He was born in Andalusia on September 6,1934.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Pritchett; his sister, Charlotte Donnenwirth and her husband Robert of Lillian; two daughters, Tammy Hurst and her husband Gary of Huntington, W.Va., and Melinda Mathis and her husband Al of Lucedale, Miss.; five granddaughters, Tracy, Megan, Brittany, Sarah and Emily; three great-granddaughters Ava, Hayden and Natalie; and one great-grandson, Gavin.

He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 20 years of service. He has donated his body to the USA Medical School in Mobile.

His wish was not to have a memorial service.

KENNETH RONALD ‘DICK’ RALEY

Kenneth Ronald “Dick” Raley, 76, of Florala, passed away Wed., April 13, 2011, in a Crestview, Fla., nursing facility after an extended illness.

He was born on Dec. 26, 1935, in Andalusia to Chester P. Raley and Allie Bell Bullger Raley. He was one of nine siblings.

He lived the majority of his life in Andalusia, where he frequently enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Sat., April 16, at Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Bessie R. Maddox, Jessie L “Jay” Mathews, Pauline R. Bowman, Helen M. Barbaree, Virginia Chesire and Ferrolyn Patten; and two brothers, James P. Raley, and Bobby R. Raley.

WAYNE OWENS

Wayne Owens, 51, of Andalusia, passed away Wed., April 13, 2011, in a Pensacola, Fla., hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Keahey Funeral Home.

Survivors include his father, Jimmie Frazer Owens; brother, Timothy Owens, both of Andalusia; and sister, Elizabeth Jones of Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Owens.

RAY POWELL

Ray Powell, 86, of Andalusia, passed away Wed., April 13, 2011, at his residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Keahey Funeral Home.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Lillie Powell (Scott) Salsberry of Franklin, Tenn.; brother, Jack Powell of Eufaula; sisters, Cora Lee Oswald and Louise Bowman, both of Andalusia; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Everage Powell, and son, David Powell.

EUNICE GRISSETT BEASLEY

Eunice Grissett Beasley, 100, of River Falls, died Tues., April 13, 2011, in a local nursing home.

Funeral services will be held on Sat., April 16, at 2 p.m. from Foreman Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Alan Harp and the Rev. Carl Douglas officiating and interment following in the River Falls Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Saturday at 12:30 at Foreman Funeral Home until the time of the service.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Harp of Brewton and her two sons, T.E. “Buddy” Grissett of River Falls and James. W. Grissett and wife Gail of Andalusia; 13 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Semion Denzel Grissett and J.O. Beasley; her son, Max Grissett; and her two daughters, Marlene G. Fryer and Thera Brogden.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Tommy Grissett, Phil Grissett, Jimmy Grissett, Kenny Grissett, Thomas Harp, Andy Harp, Mike Grissett and Hiram Brogden.

Flowers or memorials to the charity of one’s choice will be accepted.
