Approximately 10,000 tickets were purchased for this year’s Rattlesnake Rodeo, a number that is down from last year’s projected totals.

Last year, Mayor H.D. Edgar estimated about 7,500 people per night at the rodeo.

City Clerk Connie Smith said last year’s numbers were only an estimate because the city did not have a tallying system like this year.

This year, the city teamed up with an outside vendor to help sell tickets online, which Smith said, helped the city determine the number of tickets sold.

Earlier figures for this year’s rodeo were estimated at 30,000, but those numbers stretch beyond the number of tickets sold, Smith said.

“The estimated 30,000 includes vendors, the people who come with the vendors, the rodeo volunteers, and even people involved in the 5K,” she said.
