RUBY KATHERINE THOMPSON LANGFORD

Ruby Katherine Thompson Langford, 95, of Opp, died Wed., April 27, 2011, in the Opp Nursing Facility. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today, Fri., April 29, from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery at Straughn. Jimmy Allen will be officiating with Wyatt Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

She is survived by her sisters, Doris Tucker of Gadsden and Angie Wiggins of Andalusia; and 20 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace “Kirk” Langford.

GERALD EUGENE CARTER

Gerald Eugene Carter, 74, of Babbie, died Thurs., April 28, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., April 30, from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Monette McLeod Carter; daughter, Debbie (James) Adams; sons, Jerome Carter, Jerry Carter and Scotty (Carol) Carter; brother, Acey “Rod” Carter; sisters, Monette White and Claudette Wingard; 11grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Autibee Carter; and sisters, Margarette Roughton and Jewel Carter.

ANNETTE WAMBLES ROBERSON

Heaven has a new choir member – Annette Wambles Roberson.

Annette Roberson was born to Clara Nell and the late Colie Wambles in Andalusia on March 1, 1956.

In the 1970s, she was crowned Miss Covington County. Those who knew her enjoyed her angelic singing voice and piano playing abilities. Sharing these talents brought her much joy.

Moving to Destin, Fla., she and her former husband, Jimmy Roberson, had two children Mandy and Blake. In the late 1990s, she was a Destin realtor, and was most recently employed by Wyndam Resorts.

She was most thrilled to be “Nana” to her two grandchildren, Alayna and Jayce.

She is survived by her mother, Clara Neil Wambles; brother, Jimmy Wambles; her daughter, Mandy Roberson (Thomas) Burton; her son, Blake Roberson, and his fiancée Lauren Juneau; grandchildren, Alayna and Jayce Roberson, who will also miss their “Nana;” and numerous nieces and nephews, several cousins and dear friends.

Visitation will be held at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home on Sat., April 30, 2011, from 9 a.m until 11 a.m., with a funeral service held in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.
