Taste of Covington County is Monday

Get a taste of Covington County favorites at Monday night’s Red Cross event.
The event is the Covington County Chapter’s annual fundraiser, and there are many options available for those who attend.
Director Merrill Davis said the county ready to serve up all kinds of food from American to Mexican to Chinese, Japanese, Italian and even some fine Southern home cooking.
Davis said this year’s new restaurants are Kickers, who specializes in Cajun cuisine, and Fried Green Tomatoes.
“Last year was the first year we ever met our fundraising goal,” he said. “So, this year we’ve raised the bar and set our goal at $15,000. All the money we raise goes straight to funding disaster response on a local level.
The event was moved from its usual location — the Kiwanis Center — due to storm damage to the the Southside Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
Event tickets are $15 each and are limited, and the event will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
