An Andalusia man was arrested and charged with assault after he allegedly ran over a child’s foot while intoxicated on prescription pills Thursday.

Alabama State Trooper Kevin Cook said Jamie Stoud-emire, 39, is now facing charges of second-degree assault and driving while under the influence of a controlled substance.

“From the reports, it shows that Mr. Stoudemire (allegedly) ran over a 9-year-old child’s foot Thursday morning,” Cook said. “The injury was pretty bad.”

The child, who was not identified, was taken by private vehicle to Andalusia Regional Hospital and later transferred to an unknown medical facility for further treatment due to the severity of the injury.

The child’s condition, as well as their relationship to Stoudemire, is unknown.

Circuit Judge Charles A. “Lex” Short set Stoudemire’s bond on the assault charge at $10,000, bringing his total bond to $17,500.

He currently is being held in the Covington County Jail.
