Swimming, golf, tennis lessons offered

Golf, swimming and tennis lessons are being offered by the City of Andalusia’s Department of Leisure Services this summer.
Registration for youth tennis and youth golf will begin May 23 from 1 p.m. until 5 pm, Mondays through Fridays, at the Johnson Park Office. The cost is $35 for each program. Family discounts and scholarships are available.
• Golf will begin Wed., June 1, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Evans Barnes Golf Course. Spaces are limited for children ages 8 to 18. Golf will meet every Wednesday through July 27.
• Tennis camp will begin June 6 and run Mondays through Thursdays during the month of June. Camp times are:
–8 a.m. for 5/6 year olds (entering K or 1st)
–9 a.m. for 7/8 year olds (entering 2nd or 3rd)
–10 a.m. for 9/10 year olds (entering 4th or 5th)
–11 a.m. Bulldog Team Tennis for 11 yr olds & up
During the month of July those interested will be training for tournament play (see camp instructor for details). The Andalusia Tennis Association partners with the City of Andalusia every summer to bring quality tennis instruction to our area children.
• A free tennis carnival is set at the LBWCC tennis courts on Tues., May 24, from 4 until 6 p.m. There will be activities, games, snacks and prizes for children and adults.
• Swimming lessons for ages 5 and up will begin June 6 at Cooper Pool.
Registration for the first 2-week session will be held on Thurs., June 2, and Fri., June 3, from 5:30 -7 p.m. at the Johnson Park Office. Cost is $30 per swimmer. Lessons are offered at 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. during each session.
Session II runs June 20 –July 1 and session III runs July 4 – 15. Registration will be held the Thursday and Friday prior to the start of each session.
