GULF SHORES — Florala’s historic run at the Class 1A South Regional Tournament came to an end Saturday.

The Lady Wildcats fell to Sweet Water 17-7, committing 15 errors in the loss.

“Our seven seniors were pretty upset about going out like this,” FHS head softball coach Jonathan Stinson said. “They gave it all they had.

“We didn’t just show up,” he said. “We got something accomplished. We honestly thought we’d win two games (Saturday). We beat ourselves — (Sweet Water) did not beat us.”

Paige Irwin led the Lady Wildcats, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases.

The Lady Wildcats beat Georgiana 15-0 in the second game on Friday to advance in the loser’s bracket.

Florala ended its season 8-25.
