U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson announced Monday he will allow nearly a whole day of opening statements in the gambling corruption case.

Thompson said he was setting aside six hours and 20 minutes for opening arguments.

The case involves nine defendants.

Thompson has allotted the prosecution 50 minutes for its opening statement, and then the lawyers for the nine defendants have been given 35 to 45 minutes depending on the order they speak.

The trial will begin June 6.
