Sae Hae Sung cited by OSHA

Saehaesung Alabama Inc. was cited for eight safety violations by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, The Birmingham Business Journal reported this week. The citations carry proposed fines of $179,300.

The Andalusia-based auto parts manufacturer received two willfull violations with fines of $140,000 for failing to provide workers with knowledge and skills necessary for safe usage and removal of energy control devices, among other things, according to a statement from OSHA.

Saehaesung was also issued a repeat citation for not providing training and information to employees on hazardous chemicals.

The same location was cited for a hazardous communication violation in 2009.

The company, which produces chassis and body parts for Hyundai and Kia, can contest the citations.
