ZELMA EARL SPICER

Zelma Earl Spicer, 93, of Andalusia, went home to glory on Monday evening, June 6, 2011. She was being cared for in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Mickey Johnson of Dothan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest C. Spicer. The couple owned and operated Spicer Cleaners from the mid 1940s until their retirement in the early 1970s. They had built their retirement home on Spicer farmland in the Heath community.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kay (Mickey) Johnson of Dothan and Ernestine Cosby of Andalusia; granddaughters, Lynn (William) Wardlaw of Atlanta, Jennifer Kotouch of Dothan, Lisa (Mark) Hicks of Granada, Miss., and Kristie (Randy) Parker of The Woodlands, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

There will be a private graveside service for family members at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. A public memorial service celebrating Mrs. Spicer’s life will be held in the chapel of Foreman Funeral Home Sat., June 11, at 10 a.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. David Temples of Westwood Presbyterian Church of Dothan.

Visitation will be tonight at Foreman Funeral Home from 6-8.

Pallbearers will be Mickey Johnson, William Wardlaw, Mark Hicks, Randy Parker, Chris Sasser and Taylor Hicks. Special honorary pallbearer will be Carson Parker.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Methodist Children’s Home, through the office of First Methodist Church or to Covenant Hospice in Dothan.
